Whatever makes Hank so attractive when he's fishing is genetic.

Generations of Yarbo men have been inadvertently seducing the women of Saskatchewan, spreading their genes far enough that everyone in the area now has some small traces of Yarbo DNA. Hank has the purest strain, but it manifests in every other Dog River citizen as a streak of complete insanity.

• Karen, arguably the sanest person in town, is a transplant.
• Lacey is not an argument against this; her aunt was a Dog River resident, so the town is still in her blood somewhere.

When Hank asks "Where's your F n' E?" (in response to the letters missing from her cafe). Lacy immediately responds "this is a family restaurant, Hank", not following up with "and what are you talking about?"
