Coldfire Trilogy/YMMV
- Angel-Devil Shipping: Well, Gerald and Damien. Combines a bit with Mind Game Ship.
- Complete Monster: Basically, Calesta is the patron god/demon/alien/thing of complete monsters.
- Amoril was never a great guy (good people need not sign up to work for the Hunter,) but he becomes one of these after he sells his humanity for greater power.
- Crowning Moment of Funny: Gerald grudgingly joins Damien on his voyage east, intent on revenge, after Calesta deceives him.
"If you say one smug word about this," Gerald Tarrant warned, "--at any time--anything like 'I told you so' or 'What took you so long?'--I will sink that miserable crate to the bottom of the ocean, and swim home if I have to. Am I making myself clear?"
- Ho Yay: Bucket loads of it between Gerald and Damien. In fact, it's impossible to find any fanfiction that's not slash.
- It probably has something to do with the mix of hatred, respect, and grudging admiration (at least for Damien) they have for each other. In the first book, Damien spends more time thinking about Tarrant then he does thinking about Ciani during their journey.
- Magnificent Bastard: Gerald Tarrant.
- Moral Event Horizon: Essentially, Tarrant had to cross this to gain his immortality--he did it by killing his family. Damien spends most of the series trying to drag him back.
