Choujin Sentai Jetman/YMMV
- Crazy Awesome: Raita's crossdressing.
- Complete Monster: Pretty much what the Vyram (except for Grey) are all about. Especially Radiguet: check all this series' Moral Event Horizon entries. All of them belong to Radiguet.
- Maria, on the other hand, subverts this. During her spazzes as Rie, she's completely not one. When she's Maria...she tried her best to be one. She ends up dead as Rie after backstabbing Radiguet for a completely justified and unselfish reason.
- As fitting the Darker and Edgier versions (and that Radiguet may be partially right about Humans Are the Real Monsters), there is a human Complete Monster in form of Commander Ichijou, who is a General Ripper Neidermeyer per excellence. He treats human lives to be insignificant than his own position in military, and only cares about keeping his pride of keeping the position and his base. He cares nothing to even his own Neo Jetman team, treating them expendables just to defend his position, and really has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
- Ear Worm: Jetto, jetto, jettoman!
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Gai is one of the most loved Black Rangers amongst the fandom. So much that he's the guy to represent Jetman in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, coming Back from the Dead
- This is probably one of the most beloved seasons of the entire series.
- Family-Unfriendly Aesop: Cheating is okay. From the episode where Gai and Gray are playing roulette to resolve a fight and Gai has Tetra Boy pick up the building and tilt it so he wins.
- Fan-Preferred Couple: Some still prefer Gai with Kaori as opposed to Ryu with Kaori.
- Funny Aneurysm Moment: One of the episodes is titled "Gai Dies!". He came back after that. Guess what REALLY happened to him in the ending.
- Epileptic Trees: Lots of them, especially on theories that support that Gai is not dead from that one stab. Or how Radiguet actually survived, left permanently powerless as a human, and then became the thug that stabbed Gai.
- He's Just Hiding: Some people still believe that after surviving the battles and explosions against Vyrams, one thug's mere stab isn't enough to kill Gai.
- If you take the events of "Super Sentai World" as canon, he is still alive...Though it could also be taken that Super Sentai World takes place before Ryu and Kaori get married, thus Gai would get stabbed soon.
- Back from the Dead: Apparently still made it alive in order to participate in Legends War. And he's going to literally return for real in future episodes...except that it's his ghost, he's really dead.
- High Octane Nightmare Fuel: For starters, the Faucet Jigen sucks people...and releases their blood from the nozzle. The Bus from episode 12 counts, too, for consuming people, leaving only liquids in their wake.
- Ako's Pooh-tan. A Teddy-bear turned into the Monster of the Week Gomi Jigen. At first a friendly monster who can make old, rusty items into brand new (as well as eat trash, which helps with saving space in garbage dumps)...then he gets mistreated by humans, turned to The Dark Side and his power is now making new things rusty. Which includes rotting humans into skeletons! So this is where Barragan Luisenbarn gets inspired on his power...
- Juza fires a laser a people that causes crystals to grow out of them, which even with the shows limited effects still looks extremely gruesome.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Gai, the Joe Expy is a smoker. Well, in the now aborted Gatchaman film by Imagi, early concept art of the characters included Joe smoking.
- Ho Yay: Especially early on, between Ryuu and Gai.
Ryuu: Behave yourself, Gai. I'll date you.
Later
Gai: Why can't I get that guy out of my head!?
- Moral Event Horizon: Episode 18, for Radiguet. He loses his memory of being a Vyram after being banished by Juza, and is found by a girl who falls in love with him. The girl is terminally sick and has been diagnosed with only six months to live. Radiguet, realizing he has supernatural powers and starting to fall in love with her too, manages to cure her. However, after stumbling upon Juza fighting the Jetmen, he remembers who he is, and wanting revenge, he helps the Jetmen kill Juza. Later, the girl, having witnessed his transformation, tries to persuade him to abandon his evil ways, saying that he must have some good in him since he cured her. He ignores her pleas and kills her.
- He crosses it again in Episode 49. He kills Maria, after reverting to Rie, in front of Ryū...but not as a punishment for traitors, but just so Ryū won't get the girl he's after.
- Nightmare Fuel: Raita's crossdressing.
- The Problem with Licensed Games: Averted with the Jetman game for the Famicom, which is considerably decent by licensed games standards, if a bit shallow. The developers, Natsume (of Harvest Moon fame) went on to develop the all of the Power Rangers games for the SNES (including the Gekisou Sentai Carranger game for the SuFami Turbo), as well as some of the later Game Boy Color/Advance ones.
- Romantic Plot Tumor: The type 5 Love Triangle between Gai, Kaori, and Ryu takes up a huge chunk of screen time in the first half of the series.
- Squick: crystals growing out of the victims' bodies. Graphically. Ick.
- Strangled by the Red String: Ryu and Kaori get married at the very end of the series, despite Ryu spending the whole series pining after Rie and Kaori spending the second half of the series with Gai.
- It should be noted that the wedding takes place two years after the battles with Vyram are over, so there must have been great development during those two years we never got to see.
- Tear Jerker: The three rangers from the reverse dimension are all killed by Radiguet, the last one gets a emotional death scene before dying from his wounds. Later there is also Rie's death.
- The whole fate of G2 is a massive Tear Jerker: Rejected by Tranza for being inadequate, (although being a robot he could have been easily perfected), he was given to the Mooks to be effectively tortured. That he made childlike screams didn't make it better. After he succeeds in fleeing, the wounded G2 is helped by Gray only to be rejected again. He tries to help Maria and Gray only to die alone and unmourned. The Jetmen don't even know of his existence. It is impossible to not feel depressed after watching that.
- Not to mention Gai's death.
- The ending song.
- Episode 21. If the way that Ako's relation with Pooh-Tan is shown, there is the way the Teddy Bear turned Jigen Jyu is treated by society and jis death. To add even more, there's a HUGE Take That in the episode's ending.
- Too Cool to Live: Gai
