Chicken Little/Headscratchers
- Okay...so Chicken Little really wants his Dad to believe him. In fact, it's the major desire he's given. So, what does he do when he finds proof that he was right, proof that will finally show his dad he's NOT a kooky nut? He hides it. Why? Um....
- His dad did seem rather keen to go about ignoring or shoving things under the rug (even when the aliens were invading, he still had difficulty listening to his son). One has to wonder if the proof really would have convinced him. Plus, at that point in the movie, Chicken Little was going for the "make dad proud" angle rather than the "prove I'm right" angle and he feared that the "piece of the sky" would drag up all of his problems from the last time.
- What the heck was the deal with Foxy Loxy being brain-fried being treated as a good thing?!
- I guess everyone was sick of her bitchiness. Y'know what, considering the film's failure, I'd rather not think too much on this.
- This Troper feels that this scene sparked up a new generation of people with mind control fetishes.
- Everyone just figured it was best to put a positive spin on it? Everyone definitely liked her better that way, she herself seemed happier, and there probably wasn't any way to "cure" it, so why not just go with it?
- But the alien cop said he could reverse it before Runt interrupted him, saying she "was better this way".
- This troper's biggest problem is that Foxy was both a bully AND a tomboy. "Correcting" her bullying nature is certainly more palatable (though no more ethical), but by deciding to leave her "that way," the movie seems to be saying that the real problem is that she's a tomboy and that she's better off wearing dresses and not playing sports. (For this troper, it actually qualifies as Fridge Horror—imagine if some outside force completely changed you into someone else, and though they COULD change you back, your friends and family decided they liked this new other person better?)
- Not calling it ethical, but I never really thought of Foxy as a tomboy. I only ever saw her as a bully. The tomboy part never occured to me. It might be because my sister is a soccer player so I'm used to seeing girls play sports. I guess the 'girlying' of Foxy was just for a laugh, nothing more meant by it. She may have been a good athlete, but she wasn't a good sport.
- I know the filmmakers were trying to make Chicken Little a hero in the big game, but tactically speaking, it would have made a lot more sense for Little to take the walk and let Foxy come up. To this troper, he came across as an idiot who got lucky rather than an actual hero.
- The point they were trying to make was probably "Even if you risk even greater social isolation/hatred from the people who already think you're an idiot, trying your best anyway despite their insistence on you being a loser takes a lot of courage."
- Okay, why in the bloody name in hell does the school actually divide the temas into popular vs. unpopular and why doesn't Goosey Loosey get in trouble when she attacked Chicken Little?
- Okay, so the aliens only came to Earth to get nuts. That's all fine and dandy, but if they're such friendly, non-killing aliens, why are there things such as eyes and beating hearts in their ship?
