Chanson
Chanson is actually French for "song", but it's also a musical genre. Whenever music lovers refer to chansons they tend to talk about the classy singers who sing about broken hearts and the struggles of life. Well-known chansonniers include:

- Jacques Brel
- Maurice Chevalier
- Jean Ferrat
- Léo Ferré
- Serge Gainsbourg
- Jacques Higelin
- Mireille Mathieu
