Basic Trope: The use of butterflies to symbolize death and/or rebirth.

• Straight: In the horror RPG Death Tropers, the protagonist Alice is Back from the Dead after Yomi and Yami killed her, and Alice now has enough power to take them down. Alice's resurrection is heralded by a swarm of black-blue butterflies.
• Exaggerated: Those black-blue butterflies are Alice's new power, which in game is represented as one hit kill.
• Downplayed: A disheartened Alice sees a butterfly and is inspired to change herself to overcome her problem.
• Justified: In the world of Death Tropers, black-blue butterflies do have magic power to bring people Back from the Dead.
• Inverted: Being surrounded by magical butterflies prevent ghosts from arising from corpses.
• Subverted: Creepy black-blue butterflies follow Alice at some point in the game, but they don't seem to do anything.
• Double Subverted: ...and then, when Alice is actually killed from Yomi and Yami's attack, black-blue butterflies burst from her body, and she's Back from the Dead.
