Blue Cheer
Blue Cheer was an American Psych-Blues band, active from the late 1960s until 2009, when longtime member Dickie Peterson died of prostate cancer. Their first album, Vincebus Eruptum, is considered one of the very first Heavy Metal albums.
Blue Cheer provides examples of the following tropes:
- Cover Version: Their rocking covers of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" and Mose Allison's "Parchman Farm".
- Blue Cheer's version of "Summertime Blues" was in turn covered by Rush.
- Heavy Metal: Blue Cheer is widely considered one of the very first heavy metal bands.
