Beastly/YMMV
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: Kendra stepping out of the elevator as the new assistant of Kyle's father.
- In the book, Kyle rushing to save Linda at the end.
- Crowning Moment of Funny: In the film, pretty much everything Will says.
- In the book, Kyle's efforts to find a girlfriend over the internet. He uses the magic mirror to see who the people really are, and is dismayed to see who a lot of the alleged teenage girls are, including older men, a police officer (who Kyle hopes is just trying to catch online predators), and a very young girl (who gets very snippy when Kyle tries to tell her to stop pretending to be an older girl to pick up guys).
- Family-Unfriendly Aesop: Kyle's election speech was based on the premise that he was good-looking, rich, popular, and he point blank told everyone else they were the exact opposite and just had to live with it. He even admits he didn't care about the committee itself, and just wanted the position for his college resume. Despite all this, the crowd eats it up and he's elected anyway. Sadly, being elected in high school for these qualities is often the case in real life; he was just more up front about it.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Because of the varying mileage of his looks, it would be entirely possible for a girl to find the new look more attractive than his normal one. But the moment she professes her love to him, he turns back into his old unattractive self.
- Hollywood Homely:
- In the film, Kyle doesn't turn into a beast, just a guy who looks like the frontman for some Metal band. Penny Arcade, naturally, was all over this. Also, this is a guy who lives in New York; people are more likely to ask him where he got the cool tats than to point and laugh. The only thing really stopping him going outside is his own issues over his looks -- oh. OH.
- Epiphanic Prison much?
- Lindy is supposed to be "normal looking" except for when She Cleans Up Nicely. In the film they just put some bangs on the gorgeous Vanessa Hudgens. She seems to be making a career out of playing "unattractive" characters, whilst looking blatantly attractive.
- Kendra is considered ugly by the other students, despite looking like this. So they shaved off Mary-Kate's eyebrows? The horror.
