• Actor Allusion:
  • Lana Kane's voice actress has big hands, which gets used as a running joke in the series.
  • A possible one when Archer says to Mallory, "Wow you just don't get along with your neighbors anywhere." Jessica Walter, who voices Mallory, plays Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development. Lucille is known for never getting along with her neighbor Lucille Austero.
• Actor Existence Failure: George Coe, Woodhouse's original actor, fell seriously ill before Archer Vice (forcing Tom Kane to replace him in the role) and would later die after Season 6 finished airing. No word has been given at present as to how this will affect Woodhouse further.
• Casting Gag:
  • Jeffrey Tambor as the head of ODIN, who's in a somewhat tumultuous romance with Jessica Walter's Malory. The two voice actors had a similar dynamic in Arrested Development.
  • Malory, voiced by Jessica Walter, is a wealthy, hard-drinking, Jerkass mother with a long sexual past and a co-dependent son, very similar to her character in Arrested Development.
  • Although differently crazy between series, Judy Greer was a crazy Plucky Office Girl in Arrested Development and plays a similar role as Cheryl in this series.
  • When Archer is identified as a fake homosexual by Charles, he is dressed very similar to a gay prostitute who was always being caught by the police on Reno 911!, in which Thomas Lennon (who voices Charles) stars.
  • Turns out Burt Reynolds is every bit as much a crazy Badass in real life as the characters he plays.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Aisha Tyler, H. Jon Benjamin, Chris Parnell.
  • Jessica Walter, Judy Greer and Jeffrey Tambor, with similar traits to their AD characters and numerous Running Gag and cut-based gags, this show resembles an homage of AD (among other things).
  • David Cross as a slave pirate.
  • Ron Perlman shows up as a gay Cuban spy.
  • Thomas Lennon as a gay spy.
  • Adam Reed is also there as the voice of Gilette.
  • Rene Auberjonois as Manny, the German assassin.
  • You might recognize Pam as Val in Frisky Dingo. Also, Krieger was most of the Xtacles and if you watch Good Eats, he's the guy who plays the dungeon master, among other roles.
  • Darren Criss as Mikey, the youngest member of the Irish Mob.
  • Trinette is voiced by Maggie Wheeler, the characteristically-voiced Janice in Friends.
  • Popeye is Lester Freamon a.k.a. Clarke Peters.
  • Barry is Meatwad.
  • Rip Riley is Brock Samson and Kronk.
  • Bucky is Lo Pan.
  • Holy crap, Randy Gillette (Ray's brother) is Kenneth!
  • Commander Drake, voiced by Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad‍'‍s Walter White), unsurprisingly knows his science and did what he had to do.
• One of Us: In spite of spending most of his time drinking, whoring and killing, Archer has a surprisingly detailed pop culture reference pool that includes some pretty geeky topics. Few others seem to share his interests, and he's always getting annoyed when no one else gets his references. He still looks down on The Lord of the Rings, however.
• Playing Against Type:
  • Ron Perlman as a gay Cuban spy in "Honeypot".
  • Jack McBrayer who's best known for roles as irritatingly nice guys is Ray's violent adulterous drug farmer brother.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: The Archer staff collectively decided to remove the organization name ISIS from the show for Season 6 onwards due to it being used by a real terrorist organization.

Misc.

• The ocelot Babou that Cheryl/Carol keeps in her house is a reference to surrealist painter Salvador Dali's pet ocelot, which also happened to be named "Babou".
