Antwone Fisher
Who will cry for the little boy, lost and all alone?
Who will cry for the little boy, who cries inside of me?
Who will cry for the little boy, abandoned without his own?
Who will cry for the little boy? He cried himself to sleep.
Who will cry for the little boy? He never had for keeps.
Who will cry for the little boy? He walked the burning sand.
Who will cry for the little boy? The boy inside the man.
Who will cry for the little boy? Who knows well hurt and pain.
Who will cry for the little boy? He died and died again.
Who will cry for the little boy? A good boy he tried to be.—Antwone Fisher
Antwone Fisher is a 2002 drama film and Denzel Washington's directorial debut. It's based on the autobiography Finding Fish about naval officer Antwone Fisher's experiences coming to terms with his abusive childhood.
Antwone (Derek Luke) is a violent, troubled naval cadet who begins sessions with a psychiatrist, played by Denzel Washington. During the sessions, he narrates details of his childhood experiences, which included beatings, sexual abuse and seeing his best friend shot before his eyes. The two men become friends and help each other deal with their own relationship conflicts.
