Anehiem Steampunk

Some steampunk ladies.

"Anehiem, a world that never was, on the flip-side of our own modern future and rich past there lies a place by the name of Anehiem! A Steampunk-esque era of a timethat will never be, an RP born form the fruits of our imagination. This, my dear intrepid scroller, is Anehiem. Welcome!"

Anehiem Steampunk (or Steampunk!) is a forum based roleplay on the YWP Nanowrimo website. It's one of the longest, thread wise, RP's on the website.

As for what its about, the above quote describes it quite well. It's a roleplay about our world, steampunkized. Each country has a different name, for example, Anehiem is England. Canisa is Spain. You get the idea.

There are more then thirty plus characters, all with unique story-lines, and somehow all connecting.

There are three main story-lines connecting all the characters -- the stolen airship. the pirate's rebellion, and the evil Clank Lord Drosselmeyer.

The roleplay can be found here on rpg-board.net, but it requires registration to view.

Tropes used in Anehiem Steampunk include:
  • Armies Are Evil To a certain extent. The Anehiem military (and government. And royal family) is by no means anything great. However there are some sympathetic military characters. Rather, those in charge of the army are evil, but the actually soldiers aren't. Messed up, yes. Evil, no.
  • Artificial Limbs Mari's mechanical arm and the Clank's additions
  • Bad Boss Drosselmeyer and Victoria are both known for going off the edge and attacking their own subordinates for simple failures
  • Badass Long Hair Vincent. Cassy. August.
  • Badass Longcoat Jasper's duster.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension Mari/Edith. They spend more then half the time arguing with each other.
  • Childhood Friends August/Andie, to a extent. They knew each back when they were nine and twelve at the Anehiem Military Academy.
  • Colonel Badass August is one for sure.
  • Cyborg, Organic Technology, and Bio Augmentation all go into the creation of a Clank, especially the newer generation ones like Victoria and Seraph.
  • Dark and Troubled Past It would be easier to make a list of characters who don't have one
  • A Death in the Limelight Kendrick
  • Emotionless Girl Andie. Almost literally.
  • Floating Continent The sky cities. They are literally floating in the sky, not attached to anything on the ground.
  • God Save Us From the Queen Every single problem in Anehiem seems to be caused by the Queen
  • Handsome Lech Albert. This cannot be stressed enough.
  • Ignore the Fanservice Jasper. It doesn't happen alot, but sometimes a companion, such as Rosana will try and flirt with him. He ignores them.
  • Improbable Weapon User Vincent is the highest on this list. He (occasionally)fights with scissors. Scissors. Cassandra also enjoys fighting with her hatpin...one time in the past she chased Albert around with her hatpin. This is probably part of the reason why they are estranged. Also, there is a crew member of Jasper's that fights with a scythe.
  • Laughing Mad Ester was called crazy at the Academy because she laughs after fights. She's actually a lot saner than some of her classmates, though.
  • Minor Major Character Pretty much any member of the royalty, the top military officers mentioned in passing, military secretaries with a couple lines of dialogue, etc.
  • Pet the Dog Even Victoria won't attack an already injured person, unless Drosselmeyer is in the room
  • Pirate Girl Evony. Cassandra. The crew on ship that belonged to Jadon's mother, and of course his mother.
  • Rich Boredom Cassandra and Vincent. This lead to them running away with Albert and becoming sky pirates. Quite a change.
  • Sky Pirate Naturally this trope would be here. This is steampunk after all. Examples would be-Evony, Jasper, Cassandra, Vincent, Ivan, Jadon, and Albert.
  • The Speechless Poor Tomo, who physically can't speak because of a 'punishment' issued out by Victoria
  • Tear Jerker Kendrick. Colonel Artemis.
  • Those Magnificent Flying Machines The main one is The Storm Rose, the ship that half the characters escape from Anehiem in. It actually belongs to the Princess of Anehiem(our heroes stole it), who is doubtlessly rather not pleased about this turn of events. Two other good example is The Stahl, the ship of the notorious Jasper Higgins II, and The Serenity the time-ship that belongs to Flynn.
  • Transhuman The Clanks, who are people with mechanical or clockwork additions such as wings, tails, claws, or even organs and other body parts
  • Tsundere Edith. Sort of
  • Uptown Girl Cassandra. To Albert.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye Kendrick. He never really did anything but get stabbed in the neck by an islander. Oh well.
