A-ha/YMMV
- Award Snub: The video for "Take On Me" is one of the most awarded videos at the VM As with 8 Moonmen. However, it did not won Video of the Year as the jury picked Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" (an equally good video, but one that has slightly aged and not as iconic).
- Crowning Music of Awesome:
- Take on me and The Living Daylights are among their most recognized songs.
- Summer Moved On shows well how Morten Harket can hold a single note for 23 seconds nonstop.
- Ear Worm: A vast majority of their songs will get lodged in your head, especially "Take On Me".
- Face of the Band: Lead singer Morten Harket is famous for both his powerful voice and his great looks. He even was offered a small role in The Living Daylights but rejected it because he thought they only wanted him to pose and look pretty.
- Narm:
- The rather Purple Prose-y and cheesy lyrics of Stay on these roads.
- Also, Morten should've really left the Big No out of the first chorus in Manhattan Skyline.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The lyrics of Scoundrel Days, which describe a man's broken psyche as he cuts his wrists open and runs around his town before throwing himself off a cliff.
- The video for Velvet, in which the three band members are killed off.
- Tear Jerker:
- Manhattan Skyline, if you ignore the borderline narmy Big No that Morten lets out in the first chorus.
- Slender Frame, which to this tropette is one of the saddest break-up songs ever.
- The video for The sun always shines on TV, in which the lovers reunited at the end of Take on me are separated since the dude must return to the comic strip world, leaving his girlfriend all heartbroken.)
