40 Days and 40 Nights
40 Days and 40 Nights is a 2002 film directed by Michael Lehmann and starring Josh Hartnett, Shannyn Sossamon, Paulo Costanzo, and Vinessa Shaw.
Matt Sullivan (Hartnett) is a skirt-chasing guy who makes a bet with his two friends: That for the period of Lent, he'll give up sex entirely, up to and including keeping himself company. Things go a bit awry when he meets Erica (Sossamon), the girl of his dreams, soon after.
Tropes used in 40 Days and 40 Nights include:
- All Women Are Lustful
- Alpha Bitch: Nicole.
- The Bet
- Betty and Veronica: Erica (brunette but nice) and Nicole (blonde but not so nice).

- The Mole: Ryan.
- Nature Adores a Virgin
- No Hugging, No Kissing: And no masturbating.

- Raging Stiffie: See Gag Penis above.
- Black Comedy Rape
- Rape as Redemption
- The Unfair Sex: Matt has to beg Erica's forgiveness for having been raped. Admittedly, a reversal of historical gender politics for raped women.
