Volkshaus

The Volkshaus is a 1,200-seat concert hall located in Zürich, Switzerland. The building construction began in June 1909 and publicly opened the following year.[1]

On 26 February 1964, Thelonious Monk (with trio Charlie Rouse, Butch Warren and Ben Riley) performed there.[2]

In November 1973, King Crimson performed a set at the Volkshaus which included the instrumental recording for song "The Mincer". John Wetton would later overdub vocals for the song on the album Starless and Bible Black.

Kraftwerk performed at the venue during a European tour on 3 October 1976 and during their The Mix tour on 26 November 1991. Their last concert was partially broadcast on radio and fairly well bootlegged afterwards.

DEVO performed their Freedom of Choice show at the venue on 16 June 1980.[3]

New Order performed at the venue during a European tour on 2 April 1984. The concert was entirely broadcast on DMS3-FM radio.

R.E.M. played the venue on 13 June 1989 as part of their Green world tour.[4]

The Pet Shop Boys performed at the venue during their Release tour on 15 June 2002 and on 15 May 2007 during their Fundamental tour.

Tokio Hotel performed at the venue during their "Club Experience" Feel It All world tour on 15 March 2015.

Little Mix performed at the venue during The Get Weird Tour in June 2016.
