Miss Universe 2011

Miss Universe 2011, the 60th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, was held on 12 September 2011 at Credicard Hall, São Paulo, Brazil. Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned at the end of the event by her predecessor Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. She became the first woman from Angola, and the fourth woman from Africa to win the title after South Africa in 1978, Namibia in 1992 and Botswana in 1999.[1] Contestants from 89 countries and territories participated in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of 86 contestants in 2006. This marks the most recent edition, as of 2020, that any country has posted its first national win at Miss Universe.
