Background

The relations between Russia and Indonesia dates back to the mid-18th century when the Russian frigate Pallada sails to the Java Islands. The Russian writer Ivan Goncharov was on this frigate and he described the region as "the most luxurious corner of the world." In 1869, the Russian traveler V. Tatarinov visited the island of Java, who later described his trip in the Sea Collection.[3]

Indonesia was the colony of the Netherlands from 1800 until 1942. The Japanese forces occupied Indonesia from the Dutch forces, expelling them in March 1942. After the defeat and surrender of Japan in August 1945, Sukarno immediately declared the independence of Indonesia from Dutch rule on August 17, 1945. This led the Dutch to declare war on the Indonesian separatists, as the Netherlands again wanted to re-established colonial rule over Indonesia. After four and a half years, the campaign was unsuccessful for the Netherlands and on December 1949, the Netherlands formally recognized Indonesian sovereignty.

The Soviet Union (and later Russia) recognizes Indonesian independence and established diplomatic relations in 1950. Dmitry A. Zhukov was appointed as the first Russian ambassador to the country.

gollark: Palaiologos may be biased, but really, aren't we all?
gollark: You're trying to apply regular legal concepts to the very limited "law" systems of the esolangs discord.
gollark: It took a lot of work and I have to use a custom static site generator but you can directly access https://osmarks.tk/otherstuff/ for example, no weird query strings or anything.
gollark: But surely a truly 1337 h4xx0r would have URLs which are better than that. Even osmarks.tk has neat URLs.
gollark: I can't really. As I said, I no longer accidentally keep logs, and I may not technically have long-term memory.
