Homenmen AA Beirut

Homenmen Athletic Association Beirut (Arabic: نادي الهومنمن بيروت; Armenian: Հայ Մարզական Միութիւն (ՀՄՄ), lit. 'Armenian Athletic Association'), or simply Homenmen, is a Lebanese-Armenian multi-sports club including football, table tennis, cycling as well as a Scouting program. The club is based in Beirut and is part of the international Homenmen organization that has clubs in many countries of the Armenian diaspora and more recently in Armenia.

Lebanon's Homenmen is one of the pioneering sports organizations in Lebanon and was founded in 1921.[1] It has branches all over the country. The main branch is the one of Beirut.

History

Homenmen Beirut's football squad competes in the Lebanese Third Division after having won the Lebanese Football Championship several times and being a pioneer team in the Lebanese Premier League for many years.[2]

Rivals

Homenmen longest-established rivalry is with fellow Armenian team Homenetmen Beirut, against whom the club contest the Armenian derby. The rivalry between Homenetmen and Homenmen is political. The Armenian derby is usually sold out. Since the mid-1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s the rivalry has intensified both on and off the field.

Homenmen Beirut has a prominent position in Lebanese Championships most particularly in cycling and in table tennis.

Scouting

Scouts Homenmens belongs to the Lebanese Scouting Federation and thus to the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
