Burn the Witch (manga)

Burn the Witch (Japanese: BURN THE WITCH, Hepburn: Bān za Witchi) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It was first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump as a one-shot chapter in July 2018. A serialized version will run in the same magazine for four chapters, starting in August 2020. An anime film is set to premiere in late 2020.

Premise

The story of Burn the Witch takes place in the Bleach universe and follows two witches, Noel Niihashi and Nini Spangle, working for the Western Branch of Soul Society, located in Reverse London.[1]

Manga

Burn the Witch is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The series was first published as a 62-pages one-shot in the 33rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on July 14, 2018.[3] Viz Media published the chapter in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 16, 2018.[4] In March 2020, it was announced that the one-shot will receive a miniseries weekly serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump as a companion for the also announced film.[5][6] The series will run for four chapters and will start in the 38th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 24, 2020.[7]

Viz Media has announced the simultaneous English-language publication for the miniseries.[8]

Film

In March 2020, it was revealed that the series would receive an anime film adaptation by Studio Colorido and it would be directed by Tatsuro Kawano.[2][9]
