Characters

Main

The series' main characters are the four members of the Green family:

  • Cricket Green (voiced by Chris Houghton) is a trouble-making country boy who has moved from the farm to the big city and is always barefoot
  • Tilly Green (voiced by Marieve Herington) is a country girl who is the older sister of Cricket
  • Bill Green (voiced by Bob Joles as an adult; Andre Robinson as a child) is a farmer who is the father of Cricket and Tilly and had lost one of his fingers in a hay baler accident
  • Gramma (voiced by Artemis Pebdani), whose name is Alice Green, is the paternal grandmother of Cricket and Tilly and mother of Bill

Recurring

  • Remy Remington (voiced by Zeno Robinson) is Cricket's best friend who cricket first encountered during the episode "Space chicken". He also takes violin lessons, and he and his parents are rich.

  • Russell Remington (voiced by Colton Dunn) is the father of Remy and the husband of Rashida who also works as a lawyer. He is a veteran football player who possibly retired, and is probably in his 40's-50's.

Critical reception

Big City Greens received a positive reception from critics. Common Sense Media's Emily Ashby praised the series for its characters and themes, writing that "despite mining familiar stereotypes of rural dwellers, the show has strong family-centric themes and silly, lighthearted laughs".[13] Bekah Burbank of LaughingPlace.com praised the series' characters, stating that "While the mischief and antics are super silly and completely ridiculous, the characters themselves are quite fun. Just like it is with every family, the quirkiness is what you come to love most about the people you spend time with. The Green family might not be perfect, but they’re positive, supportive, and optimistic no matter the situation. Everyone could benefit from spending a little time with this wacky family".[14]

Video game

A multiplayer game titled Big City Battle!, where players compete against each other in order to earn a place as a member of the Green family, was released on the DisneyNOW app.[7]
