"Workin' On a Groovy Thing" is a song written by Neil Sedaka and Roger Atkins and originally recorded by Patti Drew on her 1968 album Workin' on a Groovy Thing that reached #34 on the U.S. R&B chart, #62 on the Billboard Hot 100,[1] and #86 in Canada.[2]

In 1969 "Workin' On a Groovy Thing" was recorded by The 5th Dimension. This version reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, #9 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart, and #15 on the U.S. R&B chart. Outside the US, it peaked at #17 in Canada, and #48 in Australia in 1969.[3] It was featured on their 1969 album, The Age of Aquarius.[4] The song was produced by Bones Howe and arranged by Bill Holman, Bob Alcivar, and Howe.[5]
