Verzasca is a proposed municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

The new municipality will be created on 5 April 2021 by the merger of Corippo, Vogorno, the village of Lavertezzo Valle which constitutes the major part of Lavertezzo, Brione, Gerra Valle of the municipality of Cugnasco-Gerra, Frasco and Sonogno. The case of the Lavertezzo Piano exclave was not yet settled in December 2019,[1] but was dropped from the final proposed municipality in March 2020.[2]

History

Following a vote organized on 10 June 2018 in seven municipalities of the Valle Verzasca, the municipality was to be officially created on 5 April 2020 by the merger of seven municipalities of the Valle Verzasca, namely Brione, Corippo, Frasco, Lavertezzo Valle (locality of Lavertezzo), Sonogno, Vogorno and Gerra Valle (locality of Cugnasco-Gerra).[3] The creation of the municipality has been delayed to 5 April 2021.[2]
