Veen Observatory

The James C. Veen Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association. Built during the 1960s and opened in 1970, it is located south of Lowell, Michigan, United States. Its two domes house the main instruments, and a roll-off structure houses a 17-inch Dobsonian.

• Public Observing nights at the facility are conducted approximately ever other Saturday evening annually from late April through October. The observatory is named after a co-founder and first president of the Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association, and celebrates its 50th year of bringing the wonders of the universe to earth in 2020.
