Early life and high school

Shough grew up in Chandler, Arizona and attended Hamilton High School.[1] He completed 142 of 228 passes for 2,079 yards, 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions and was named honorable mention 6A Premier League in his junior season.[2][3] As a senior, Shough passed for 3,071 yards with 30 touchdowns and five interceptions and was named first-team 6A Premier League and first team All-Chandler Unified School District as he led the Huskies to the Class 6A state quarterfinals.[4][5][6] Rated a four star recruit, Shough initially committed to play college football at North Carolina over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Michigan before flipping his commitment to Oregon.[7][8]

College career

Shough appeared in three games as a true freshman, playing eight snaps before redshirting the rest of the season.[9][10] As a redshirt freshman, Shough served as the Ducks backup quarterback behind Justin Herbert.[11] He finished the season with 144 yards and three touchdowns in eight games played off the bench.[12][13] Head Coach Mario Cristobal says that Shough is anticipated to be the starting quarterback in the upcoming 2020 season.[14]
