Troyman

Troy Earvin Curry (born April 17, 1992), known professionally as Troyman is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in San Francisco, California [1] and grew up in Oakland, California. He moved to Atlanta with his mother as a teenager[2] and has lived there since. Musical career

In 2019, Troyman appeared on the first season of Netflix's music reality television series, Rhythm + Flow, where he finished in 4th place. His standout performance in the season finale, described by Complex Magazine as "a hard trap track so street it is literally called Streetlights”,[4] and produced by Tay Keith, has garnered over 3M views on YouTube [5] and over 4M streams on Spotify.[6] However, Rhythm + Flow was not Troyman's first success on television, he appeared on BET's 106th and Park "Wild Out Wednesday" and was MTV Atlanta's Best Independent Artist in 2009.[7]

Since his appearance on Rhythm + Flow, Troyman has collaborated with several of the show's contestants, featuring on songs with Londynn B, Flawless Real Talk, Ali Tomineek and Caleb Colossus.[8] He released an EP Insomniac on March 20, 2020, which features D Smoke, T.I. and Londynn B.[9] Prior to his appearance on the show, he released A.P.R.I.L (A Period of Infinite Life) in 2017, following the passing of his mother.

Personal life

Troyman spent most of his childhood in Oakland, California, but moved to Atlanta as a teenager. He has three younger brothers.[10] In April 2016, his mother suffered an overdose of crack cocaine [11] and while she survived the overdose, it left her in an unconscious "vegetable" state, leaving Troy as next of kin to make the decision to end her life support on April 12, 2016, five days before Troy's birthday.

He remains close with his Rhythm + Flow competitor, Londynn B[12] and has kept in touch with Judge T.I., whom he considers a mentor.[13]
