Tim Wilson (broadcaster)

Tim Wilson is a New Zealand journalist, producer, author and radio personality working for TVNZ and NZME.[1]

Early life

Wilson was born in Dunedin and adopted by a Presbyterian minister who relocated the family to Pokeno and then to New Plymouth and finally Whanganui when Wilson was a teenager. Wilson studied at the University of Auckland.[1]

Career

Wilson was the US correspondent for One News in New York City for 10 years before returning to New Zealand in early 2012.[2] He now produces elements for TVNZ's Breakfast and Seven Sharp as well as co-hosting The Weekend Collective from 3pm till 6pm every Saturday and Sunday afternoon with Tim Roxborogh on Newstalk ZB.[3][4][5] He occasionally fills in on various other programmes on Newstalk ZB.

Family life

Tim Wilson is married to Rachel Wilson and they have three children.[5] The couple met in a catholic church in 2012. The family live in Auckland and Tim's wife Rachel is a common contributor to his Newstalk ZB programme, while also pursuing a career in music. She is a former primary school teacher and comes from a large family of 9 siblings.

Books

Tim Wilson has published four books, all of which are sold in New Zealand and published by Victoria University Press.[6] His first book Their Faces Were Shining was published in 2010 and his second book The Desolation Angel, a collection of short fiction, was published in 2011. News Pigs was published in 2014 with the sequel The Straight Banana published in 2016.
