Career

Ganesan garnered acclaim for his portrayal of a rowdy named Dabba in Renigunta (2009).[2] He landed the role after an audition and the director R. Panneerselvam added the moniker 'Theepetti' to his stage name.[3] Regarding his performance from the film, a critic noted that "his wit in times of crises evokes a smile".[4] The success of the film enabled him to star in other films including Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, the unreleased Vettai Mannan, and Billa II.[3][5][6] However, his career took a turn when his manager demanded a high salary for Ganesan, so that his manager could make a profit.[3] As a result, he received less film offers and worked at a restaurant in Chennai to make a living.[3][5][7] Several actors in the film industry took the opportunity and assisted Ganesan with his financial needs since he is unable to work due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[8][5][9][10][11][12]
