Summary

Set in the distant mythical past, the world is filled by humans, demons and dragons. But demons wreak havoc causing the humans to suffer. When the emperor was helpless to help his people, the Dragon King steps in to subdue the demons. They maintained a good relationship and the people in return also built temples to thank the dragon king. However, the cunning Emperor was worried that Dragon King will fight for the throne and thus plot to kill him. Since the dragon king was protected by the dragon pearl, he could not be killed and the Emperor imprisoned him in ice.

The Dragon king's youngest daughter, Shui Linglong was trapped in a ball as a punishment. She was supposed to be released but due to her now imprisoned father, she became trapped for years. As she gradually gave up hope of ever seeing the light of day again, a little boy by the name of Yuan Bao released her by chance from her enchanted prison. As gratitude and wanting to play, Shui Linglong stayed with Yuan Bao and tries to thank him by doing things for him or sometimes just a mischievous act. Although being actually afraid, Yuan Bao eventually sees the goodness in her and they became friends and playmates.

When Yuan Bao is saddened that his adopted sister Fei Cui was shot by arrows and could not be saved, Shui Linglong decides to possess Fei Cui, and when Yuan Bao finds out, he tells her to stay in the body to keep it alive. From then on, the innocent naive princess begins to grow, learning more about the world and life struggles. Including the dragon race hatred for the human race, a love triangle with Fei Cui's pursuer Yan Cheng, her own pursuit of Li Bin's love, and her childhood playmate Xiao Bai Long whom she treats as a brother.
