Texas State Highway Spur 17

Spur 17 is a state highway spur in Dalhart, Texas. It starts at the junction of U.S. Highway 87 (US 87) and Farm to Market Road 1727 (FM 1727) and runs 1.97 miles (3.17 km) before ending at US 385. Spur 17 was established in 2008 along Ponderosa Lane.

Route description

Spur 17 begins at the intersection of US 87 and FM 1727 on the northern edge of Dalhart. Locally named Ponderosa Lane, Spur 17 continues as a rural, two-lane road along the northern boundary of Dalhart. It leaves Dalhart city limits before reaching its terminus at US 385.[2]

History

Loop 17

Loop 17 was first designated on September 25, 1939, from State Highway 123 (SH 123) in Karnes City to US 181 as a renumbering of SH 123 Loop. On June 21, 1990, this became Business State Highway 123-D.[3]

Spur 17

Spur 17 was designated on March 27, 2008, along its current alignment.[1]
