Take a Worm for a Walk Week

Take a Worm for a Walk Week was a band from Glasgow, Scotland, composed of Joseph Quimby (vocals), Jonny Scott (Drums), Johnny Docherty (Guitar) and Iain Quimby (Bass). The band were previously signed to Undergroove Records and have released three full-length albums, as well as several EPs. Their 2007 debut, Take a Worm for a Walk Week, went relatively un-noticed, but through a series of live gigs became a talking point.[1] while their second album, The Monroe Transfer, was released in 2008 to good reviews.

History

The Debut Album

After recording two self-financed EPs[2] Take a Worm for a Walk Week entered 4th Street Studio and recorded their debut self-titled album Take a Worm for a Walk Week in 2007. The album was released by Midmarch Records who said the album mixed 'the intensity of eyehategod with the speed of Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and almost Jacob Bannon esque vocals.'[3] Midmarch records also released their split 7 inch EP with Desalvo in the same year, before Take a Worm for a Walk Week signed on to Undergroove Records later that year.

The Monroe Transfer and beyond

2008 saw the release of Take a Worm for a Walk Week's second album The Monroe Transfer on Undergroove Records which included a cover of Devo's 'Whip It'. In the two years ahead Take a Worm for a Walk Week performed live across the UK to good reviews, playing one notable live show in particular, where they performed their third, as yet untitled album in full in their home town of Glasgow in 2009. The album was recorded in early 2010 but has yet to be given a release date, although two tracks are available on their Myspace page.[4]

In February 2010, Johnny Docherty joined The Twilight Sad as their live bassist, when Craig Orzel left the band.

Take a Worm for a Walk Week self-released their new album in April 2011 to excellent reviews.
