Tadhg Gaelach Ó Súilleabháin

Tadhg Gaelach Ó Súilleabháin (c.1715-1795), known in English as Timothy O'Sullivan, was an Irish poet whose Pious Miscellany was reprinted over 40 times in the early 19th century.[1][2]

Ó Súilleabháin was born in Míntín Eoghain in the parish of Cill Íde near Tournafulla in County Limerick c.1715.[1][3] His early works were reflective of Munster poetry of the period, including laments, eulogies, "drinking songs" and verses promoting Jacobite causes.[4] Ó Súilleabháin lived in County Cork for a period and was friendly with fellow Jacobite poet Seán "Clárach" Mac Domhnaill.[4]

Later moving to County Waterford, Ó Súilleabháin died in April 1795, and is buried in Ballylaneen.[4]
