Sonali Kulkarni (businesswoman)

Sonali Kulkarni (born 1965) is President and CEO of Fanuc India, the local unit of Japanese industrial robots maker Fanuc Corp.[1] In her role, she oversees all Sales, Marketing, Business Development activities for all products including CNC, Robots, Robomachines and System Integration for Fanuc, India.[2]

Personal Life

Kulkarni is the great grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi and the daughter of Sumithra Kulkarni, an ex-IAS officer and a former Rajya Sabha MP and G R Kulkarni, the former Dean of IIM Ahmedabad.[4] She moved to India from Japan in 2001.[5] She married Ravi Venkatesan, former Chairman of Microsoft India on 11 October 2010.[4] They had known each other since 1999 but got married with family's acceptance ten years later.[5]

Education

Kulkarni completed her MBA from Ohio State University and she is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.[5] She is a Zoology graduate and has a keen interest in environmental sustainability.[1]

Career

Kulkarni has worked as a Financial Analyst in the US.[1] Kulkarni took charge as CEO of Fanuc India in 2006.[5] Before becoming the CEO, she worked as the executive assistant to Fanuc’s chairman in Japan.[5] Since Kulkarni took charge as a CEO, company's revenue has doubled and the company has captured an 80% market share in the industrial robots in India.[1]
