Solo Leveling

Solo Leveling (Korean: 나 혼자만 레벨업; RR: Na Honjaman Rebereop; lit. I Alone Level Up) is a South Korean web novel written by Chugong. It was serialized in Kakao's digital comic and fiction platform KakaoPage since July 25, 2016, and later published by D&C Media under their Papyrus label since November 4, 2016. The novel has been licensed in English by Webnovel under the title Only I Level Up.

The webtoon adaptation has been serialized in KakaoPage since March 4, 2018, illustrated by Jang Sung-rak (a.k.a. Dubu) who is CEO of Redice Studio. Its first season concluded on March 19, 2020. Its second season resumed serialization from August 1, 2020. The individual chapters collected and published by D&C Media into three volumes as of July 2020. Solo Leveling has been translated to many languages by way of fan translations.

Plot

Since a portal connecting our world to a world full of monsters and creatures of all kinds appeared, some people have acquired powers and the ability to hunt them: they are called hunters. The protagonist of the story, Sung Jin-woo, is the weakest of the rank E hunters and barely stronger than a normal human. He is nicknamed by his fellow hunters as "the weakest". One day, he and other hunters find themselves trapped in an extremely dangerous dungeon, and only a few of them survive and manage to escape. Sung Jin-woo himself barely survives and is the only one who completes all the trials in this dungeon. He then turns into a "player" who can now see an interface showing him quests, stats, inventory, store, and levels. Will he succeed in leveling up to become the most powerful hunter?

The webtoon adaptation was launched in KakaoPage on March 4, 2018 and concluded its first season on March 19, 2020.[18] Its first collected volume was released by D&C Media on September 26, 2019.

In Japan, Solo Leveling was launched in Kakao Japan's webtoon and fiction service Piccoma, and has over 1 million cumulative readership.[19] It was also selected as #1 webtoon in Piccoma's "Best of 2019".[20][21][22]

The webtoon has been licensed in English by Webnovel on May 7, 2020.[23] Tappytoon is also releasing the series in English starting on June 4, 2020.[24]
