History

There have been three churches located on this site in Eresfjord over the centuries. There was a stave church here in the Middle Ages, likely existing from 1646 until 1710. That church was torn down and replaced with a new cruciform church around 1710. That church stood until 1868 when it was then later replaced with the current octagonal church.[3][4]
