Sindhu Samaveli

Sindhu Samaveli is a 2010 Tamil independent erotic thriller film written and directed by Samy.[1][2] The film featured debutants Harish Kalyan, Anaka, and Ghajini in the lead roles.[3] The film became Samy's third controversial film in succession, achieving an "A" certificate upon censor following Uyir and Mirugam.[4] Upon release, the film met with contrasting reviews, whilst some critics refused to give the film a rating, declaring their disgust at the film's plot.[5][6] The film released on 3 September 2010 and did poorly at the box office.[7] The lead actress, Amala Paul, was given the stage name Anaka by Samy.[8]

Plot

Anbu (Harish Kalyan) is a brilliant student in a village school in the Kanyakumari area. His mother teaches in the same school, and his father Veerasami (Ghajini) is a CRPF soldier in Assam. His classmate Sundari (Amala Paul), who is elder to him by three years, falls for him. One day, his father gets injured in a militant attack and takes voluntary retirement and comes back to the village. The father dotes on his family, especially his son, but tragedy strikes as his wife dies from a snakebite. Both father and son are devastated. Anbu decides to fulfill his mother's dream of becoming a teacher. Around this time, his father and other relatives pressure him into marrying Sundari. The newlyweds are together for hardly a month, before they are separated as Anbu has to go to the teachers' training school. Sundari is left in the house to look after her father-in-law.

Anbu's father having lack of contact with any woman after his wife's (Anbu's mother) death, longs for a sexual companion. He starts looking at Sundari in a sexual way. Being close around her and with Anbu absent, he starts fantasizing about having sex with Sundari. After rescuing her from a fall from the boat, he tries to molest the unconscious Sundari. But regaining consciousness soon she is shocked and covers herself. But unable to control his urges, Anbu's father shakes the boat making sundari fall on him and starts sex by overpowering..

After this incident Anbu's father tries to kill himself but is prevented by Sundari stating that she also at one point joined in the act. They ignore the incident and try to live a normal life. Anbu's father starts to drink heavily and sleeps outside regularly. Sundari one day invites him inside and provides food. This time Sundari aroused by the previous incident, is the first to lure Anbu's father for sex. After having sex multiple times the illicit Father-in-law and daughter-in-law are now comfortable with the new relationship.

They start going out for movies together, Sundari provides Anbu's father alcohol when he needs, cooks food and at night performs any sexual favors he needs. Anbu's father buys her slinky clothes and watches her wear them. The relationship is highly bound by lust they have on each other.

One day Anbu returns to find out the bitter truth. He tries to engage in sex with Sundari but she avoids. The father and son are now targeting for the same woman. Sundari become heart broken and attempts suicide killing herself after reading article written by anbu regarding their story and that he mentions he suspect of illegal relationship between sundari and his father but still he hopes sundari won't cheat her and still sundari remains faithful to him and still he loves deeply sundari . After sundari death anbu gets feeling of called under a tree where it is written camera. Scene shifts to a boat in which anbu and his father only sitting and both start drinking. scene shift back showing anbu take out camera where recording show sundari confessing it was all because his father raped her that she lost herself and had illegal relation and she don't have any quality to Live with a loving anbu and thus turns her head to a railway track where a train is running. Enraged by all this Anbu plan to kill his father. Anbu asks his father why he not felt wrong while thinking wrongly of sundari for which he replies sundari was very beautiful that still he feels sad that he shaved his head with anbu and it was good that his wife died earlier itself , if sundari cheated anbu then what is the guarentee that his wife don't cheat him while he was in military. Hearing this anbu with full anger keep stabbing the boat that the boat gets pierced with water entering in force. Anbu tells in his mind that animal like you should die and leaves his father alone,who was drinking the full whisky bottle and gets unconscious and weak. Anbu jumps out of the leaking boat and swims to land while the leaking boat with his father now unconscious leave to the opposite side towards the centre of the sea ..

Release

The Times of India gave the film a rating of two out of five stars and wrote that "You can only be thankful that the film is not crude. Finally, excellent camera work by Utpal V Nayanar. Art work by Thotta Tharani stands out".[10]
