Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) is an official government body in Saudi Arabia responsible for the protection and supporting the intellectual property in the Kingdom.[1]

Directorates

SAIP composes of three directories to accomplish its tasks and objectives.[2] These directories are :

  • The Saudi Patent Office: aims to issue and protect patent in industrial, commercial, and agricultural fields.[3]
  • The Department Of Trademarks: this department is responsible for the processing of trademarks applications including the registration and declaration of trademarks.[4]
  • General Administration of Copyrights: this aims to issue and protect the work produced in literature, art and sciences field.[5][6]

Structure

SAIP is governed by the Board of Directors chaired by Minister of Commerce and Investment and formed by relevant government representatives in addition to three members from non-governmental organizations.[7]
