Rodney K. Harrison

Rodney K. Harrison is an American police officer and administrator, and is the chief of The Detectives Bureau in the NYPD. In this capacity he oversees the majority of the department's detectives in every precinct. Harrison is also the first Black man to hold this position[1][2]

Career

Harrison grew up in south Queens and joined the NYPD in 1991 as a police cadet. After graduating the New York City Police Academy. He began patrolling in Astoria, Queens in 1994.[3] He was promoted to detective in 1995, including internal affairs before worked in various detective commands in Brooklyn. He was Chief of Patrol before being promoted to the Elite position of Chief of Detectives.[4]
