Pent Nurmekund

Pent Nurmekund (16 December 1906 Kilingi Parish – 28 December 1996 Tartu) was Estonian linguist, polyglot. He was fluent in about 70 foreign languages and at the same time he was one of the leading polyglots in the world.[1]

1930-1935 he studied Romanic and Germanic philology at Tartu University. Graduation gave him Magister Philosophiae[1]

1955-1986 he was lecturer at Tartu University.[1]

1950s he found Cabinet of Orientalistics at Tartu University.[1]

1991 he got Wiedemann Language Award.[1]
