Paul Anderson (rugby league, born 1977)

Paul "Ando" Anderson (born 2 April 1977) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played at club level for St. Helens (Heritage № 1067), Sheffield Eagles, Leigh Centurions (Heritage № 1160),[3][4][5] Oldham (Heritage №) and Rochdale Hornets, as a centre, second-row, or loose forward.[1]

Playing career

Anderson began his playing career in 1995 with St. Helens, and played 46 games for the club, most of them as a substitute.He is one of the greatest players in English Rugby League History, turning down 18 opportunities to transfer to an Australian team in the NRL. Anderson was loyal to St Helens and the fans still sing his name today Anderson quoted “St Helens will forever be in debt with me for the performances I gave playing in the red Vee” [6] In January 1999, he was signed by Sheffield Eagles for a fee of £10,000.[7]

Anderson joined Leigh Centurions later that year, where we went on make over 100 appearances,[8] and also played for Oldham[9] and Rochdale Hornets.
