Patiala Babes was an Indian drama television series starring Paridhi Sharma, Ashnoor Kaur, Aniruddh Dave, Saurabh Raj Jain and Saisha Bajaj. This series is created by Katha Kottage and produced by Rajita Sharma and Vivek Budakoti. Patiala Babes is dubbed in Tamil as Pavithra on Polimer TV and.[2]

The series halted on 27 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis and later was announced in April to be not brought back thus being abruptly cancelled.[3]

Plot (Season 1)

Babita is a shy, innocent woman who is respectful to family. She lives with her in-laws and 17 year old daughter, Mini who is a brave girl. Babita's husband, Ashok Khurana returns to India after 17 years. He cheats Babita and Mini with his business partner, Meeta who is Ashok's fianceé now. This breakdowns Babita completely and Mini leaves from home with her mother. Then, She helps Babita to get divorce from Ashok and teaches to become independent and self-reliant.

Babita opens a catering service named Patiala Babes with Mini's help. Soon, She become successful and wins others trust. Now, Meeta who is pregnant with Ashok's child suffers from Ashok's rude behavior towards her. Then, Mini and Babita learn about that and help her to become independent. Ashok realises his mistake on Babita, Mini and Meeta. Then, He apologizes from them and returns to London with Meeta.

Soon enough, Hanuman Singh who is Babita's landlord realises that he has feeling for Babita. Babita also feels the same. Mini learns about that and plans a huge wedding arrangements with her friends and grandparents. Hanuman and Babita get married. But, after the wedding, Mini feels excluded from Babita's life. Now, Babita is become busy as a wife and ignores the Patiala Babes Catering Service and Mini. Mini gets shocked Babita's behavior and takes care the Catering Service.

Meanwhile, Ashok sends a letter to Mini which kept hidden by Hanuman. Mini finds the letter and asks the reason from Hanuman to hide it. Babita learns it and burns the letter before Mini read it. Then, Babita solds the Catering Service to an arrogant agent named Khatri with Mini's dismay. After watching this all, Mini gets deeply shocked. Then, She apply for a cinematography course and wins a full time scholarship for it. Mini gets ready to visit Australia. Babita and Hanuman gets shocked after hearing this. Then, Hanuman's neighbour, Naeem Bi advices them to don't interfere to Mini's future. Mini leaves from home with everyone's blessings. After she leaves, Babita realises her mistake on Mini. Finally, Babita finds a Mini's letter and misses her.

Plot (Season 2)

5 years later

Mini returns to Manali for a project shoot. She calls to Hanuman and informs about it. Hanuman gets delighted after hearing it and tries to meet her. But, Next day, Naeem Bi calls Mini and informs her that both Babita and Hanuman have died due to an accident. After hearing it, Mini returns to her home.

Mini tries to return Australia after some days. Mini's grandparents informs her about her 5 years old half-sister, Arya who is Hanuman and Babita's daughter doesn't know about their death. Mini talks with Arya and realises that she is already know that. Meanwhile, Arya informs her about a restaurant named Patiala Babes which opens by Babita after Mini leaves. Naeem Bi informs that Babita had dreamed that Mini takes care the restaurant. Then, Mini changes her decision and takes the responsibility of restaurant. She hires a new chef named Neil Oberoi who lives in Mini's house as a tenant.

Some days later, Mini sees Arya's weird behavior and asks about it. Arya tells her that she is afraid to her school peon, Keval who is a child abuser. She infroms Mini that Keval had punished her best friend also. After hearing that, Mini takes a legal action against Keval. Eveyone supports her. In this time, Keval becomes the villain infront of law and gets punished.

Meanwhile, Mini and Neil become friends and Mini invites him to share his story with her. Next Day, Neil brings Mini to his parents' house. In there, Mini learns that Neil is married and now he tries to get divorce. After seeing Neil's daughter Kia, Mini remembers the past how her father Ashok cheated her and Babita. Then, She tries to leave from there and Neil informs her about how his wife Isha becomes violent to him with her friend Ritwik. After that, Mini takes Neil's side and helps him to take a legal action against Isha.

Production

On 24 October 2019, news came that leads Paridhi Sharma and Aniruddh Dave, were asked to leave the show overnight after the makers decided to bring Season 2 and leap the storyline by five years.[11] Saurabh Raj Jain was cast as the lead Neil post leap in December 2019.[12]

On 27 March 2020, owing Covid-19 pandemic, the series was temporarily halted as the shootings were stalled. However, in April 2020, on mutual agreement between the makers and channel, it was decided to terminate the series abruptly.[3] Producer Rajita Sharma stated, "Ours was always a finite series, but unfortunately we are unable to shoot the remaining episodes because of the lockdown. None of us know when we will be in a position to resume shooting. So, it was a mutual decision to pull it off air."[13]
