The country is described as "the smallest country in Latin America",[1] and, based on its description, lies roughly within the borders of real-world Venezuela and Colombia.[1]

The name is a portmanteau of Paraguay and Colombia (French: Colombie).

There is a pigeon-themed pun in the name Palombie - Colombia's name in French, Colombie, is very similar to the French word for a white-feathered pigeon, colombe; and another variety of pigeon, the wood pigeon, is called palombe in French, which accordingly is very similar to the name Palombie.
