PU scope

The PU scope (ПУ, прицел укороченный, 'Scope short-cut' in comparison to PE/PEM telescopic sight) is a telescopic sight of Soviet manufacture, widely used on the Mosin–Nagant and SVT-40. The sight has a fixed at 3.5 power magnification. The reticle could be adjusted vertically for range, from 0 to 1300 meters. Horizontal adjustments for windage were also provided.

It is claimed that the Soviets attempted to create a 6x version of the scope though this has been refuted. An aftermarket objective lens known as the PU Magnifier (PUM) is able to give the PU scope a 6.5x power.
