Orlando Brown (actor)

Orlando Brown[1] (born December 4, 1987)[2] is an American actor, rapper, and singer, perhaps best known for his role as Eddie Thomas on the Disney Channel series That's So Raven (2003–2007), and as Sticky Webb in the TV show The Proud Family (2001-2005).

As a child actor, Brown had roles on many television shows, including the sitcoms Family Matters (1996–1998) and Two of a Kind (1998–1999), and appeared in major films such as the comedy films Major Payne (1995) and Max Keeble's Big Move (2001). As an adult, he only found sporadic work, with his only feature film role being that of an extra in Straight Outta Compton (2015).

Early life

Orlando Frankie Brown was born on November 16, 1987 in Los Angeles, California.[2][3]

Personal life

On February 28, 2016, in Torrance, California, Brown was arrested and later charged with domestic battery, obstruction of justice, drug possession with intent to sell, and possession of contraband in jail, following an altercation with his then-girlfriend in public. Police were called to the scene after he struck her in the parking lot of a police station and he was found by officers to be in possession of methamphetamine, an illegal stimulant drug, at the time of the incident.[4][5][6] Brown failed to appear for a scheduled court date in relation to the charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest; he was ultimately taken into custody by police on January 18, 2018, in Barstow, California, after police were called to a private residence in response to a complaints of a domestic disturbance between Brown, his girlfriend, and his girlfriend's mother and subsequently faced additional charges of domestic battery, drug possession, and resisting arrest.[7][8]

Following his release from jail in Barstow, he again failed to appear for a scheduled court date and a warrant was again issued for his arrest; he fled California for Nevada and was eventually apprehended by bounty hunters in Las Vegas, who found him hiding in the closet of a private homeowner on April 13, 2018.[9]

On June 5, 2018, Brown was arrested in Las Vegas by police, while leaving a local hotel known for prostitution and illegal drug sale and use. He refused to cooperate with officers after they stopped his taxicab, and a subsequent search found him to be in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe, and that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, in relation to one of his unresolved domestic battery charges. He was charged with drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.[10]

Several months later, on September 2, 2018, Brown, recently released from a medical facility where he'd been hospitalized for undisclosed reasons, was arrested after breaking into Legends Restaurant & Venue, a Las Vegas establishment owned by his childhood friend Danny Boy, and attempting to change the locks. Police found Brown on the roof of the building, after security cameras showed him entering the building without permission.[11][12]

In early 2018, Brown debuted to the public a new tattoo, that of his former That's So Raven co-star Raven-Symoné, on his neck.[13] Later that year, he entered rehab, after an intervention from friends and family, but remained in the program only one week, and was photographed shortly after his release walking down the street barefoot, carrying a box of wine.[14]

Dr. Phil appearance

In 2018, Brown appeared on an episode of Dr. Phil, alongside retired psychologist Phil McGraw, and made outrageous claims, among them that he was the son of the late American musical icon Michael Jackson, saying his full name was Orlando Brown Prince Michael Jackson, Jr., and that he had four children, two whom he had never met and whose names he did not know. He claimed the oldest of his children is between the ages of 16 and 18, meaning Brown would have been between 13 and 15 at the time of their birth. He additionally claimed he had been sober for four years.[15] The episode aired on December 21, 2018.

Hollywood sexual abuse

On January 22, 2020, Brown claimed Nick Cannon had once performed fellatio on him while dressed as a woman.[16] Cannon responded to the claim on Instagram, commenting "When I first saw this I thought it was fucking hilarious!!!!", and later on saying: "We need better support systems for our youth and take care of our own. I watched various of this young brothers videos and all I see is a cry out for help. So I don't know if there are any real leaders or solid individuals in this young man's life but let's embrace him and tighten him up so he doesn't become another lost victim to these Hollywood circumstances."[17][18].
