Namig Mammadov

Namig Mammadov (born on February 1, 1976 in Arjut, Kirovakan District, Armenian SSR (present Arjut, Lori Province, Armenia)) is an Azerbaijan public figure, businessman and maecenas. He is Caspel LLC company's chairman of the board, member of Broadcasting Council of İctimai Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (since 2009), and he was awarded the Taraggi Medal (Progress Medal) in 2014.

Early life

Namig Mammadov was born on February 1, 1976 in Arjut, Kirovakan District, Armenian SSR (present Arjut, Lori Province, Armenia) in family of teachers.[1]

Because of reprisals by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1988, many local Azeri had to leave own lands as well as their family. He and his family had to move from their homeland to Baku.[2]

Education

In 1983 Namig Mammadov went to Arjut village's secondary school after M.F.Akhundov. He studied there until 1988, and due to fact that his family was violently deported from their homeland, he continued his secondary education at Baku secondary school No. 115 until 1992. In 1992 he entered to "Young Talents Lyceum" No. 43 and graduated in 1993.

He entered to "Economy and Management" faculty at Khazar University in 1993, and later he was transferred to "Engineering Economy and Management" faculty at Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC). He graduated UNEC in 2003.

Namig Mammadov attended Baku State University from 2004 to 2008, graduating with bachelor's degree in Law. After that he entered Kutafin Moscow State Law University and now he does PhD in Law. He published 4 academic articles.

Currently he researches "Information-legal support of e-government's activity in Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation (comperative-law study)" and does his thesis.

He speaks Azeri, Russian, Turkish and English fluently.

Business career

In 1992 he was Regulator of Computer at "Marko Computer Technologies" company.[3] In 1999, after military service, he was Sales Manager at "Caspian American Telecom" joint company. In 2000 he was Head of Sales and Marketing Department at "Caspian American Telecom" joint company.

In 2001–2002 he was Main Sales Manager at "R.I.S.K." – scientific production company.

In 2002–2005 he was Head Manager at "Caspian Eleсtronics" company. In 2005 he became an Executive Director at "Caspel" LLC. From 2008 up to now he is chairman of the board at "Caspel" LLC international holding.[3]

Namig Mammadov led several significant projects:

  • Software for automation of business processes was designed and implanted. It allows a significant improvement of the efficiency of enterprises management, as well as to create terms for a healthy competitiveness.
  • The “Caspel APP” (“CLAPP”) program line has been implemented and successfully is run in many commercial and financial institutions and enterprises of Azerbaijan.
  • Fiber-optic communication lines were installed and connected several cities of Azerbaijan. Such essential project allows a significant improvement of the country's telecommunications system quality.
  • One of the essential implemented projects in Azerbaijan was the development of disaster-resistant backup systems. These systems were installed in different seismic active zones of Azerbaijan and run as an operating system as well as a system that ensures the protection and storage of data base, which guarantee the constant and reliable activity of state and commercial institutions.
  • Creative engineering group has created a unique "Single Window" system for the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This system has been running successfully and effectively for several years. Thousands of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and businessmen are benefiting from advantages of this implemented system.[3]
  • The unique modern systems for automatic regulating of water level in the rivers and reservoirs were installed. At the same time, new solutions were designed to raise and sink the sluice gates; new modern engines were installed and tested. Replacing old power cables with new ones and installation of hermetic boxes for power contactors in accordance with international quality and safety standards make it possible to significantly reduce cases of electric shock of dam workers at gate and in control room. All these measures helped to achieve essential results to prevent floods.
  • Caspel company implemented the full automation of the main pipe of the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline. There were mounted a set of flow indicator transmitters, fluid quantity transmitters and also the pressure-sensitive system and temperature-sensitive system. The system of optical fiber cables was laid along the entire pipeline, SCADA system software was installed in order to ensure centralized management of system. The entire project was successfully presented to the president of Azerbaijan.
  • Namig Mammadov is one of professional advisors at Zamzam digital bank. He is responsible for development of strategic cooperation, which includes implementation of tax center. Also Namig Mammadov supports the enlargements of bank in Azerbaijan market, performs huge contribution into constant development and improvement of the bank, as well as into establishment of relationship among companies’ presidents, and participates into taking essential decision to support of the project.[3][4]

Public activity

From April 2009 he has been a member of Broadcasting Council of İctimai Television and Radio Broadcasting Company by the resolution of Milli Majlis (National Parliament) of Azerbaijan Republic.[5][6][7][8][9][10]

Awards

Namig Mammadov was awarded the Taraggi Medal (Progress Medal) on February 6, 2014 by the decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[11][12][13][14][15]
