Overview

The Nagatsuka Kofun is a two-stage keyhole-shaped kofun located at an altitude of 10 meters on a river terrace between the Kiso River and its tributary the Kanogawa River. It was excavated by the Kani City Department of Education from 1995-1997. The tomb was found to be 72 meters long, with a circular portion 38.4 meters in diameter, 7 meters high, with a 33.6 meter width for its rectangular portion. Neither fukiishi or haniwa were discovered. The construction of this tomb was estimated from the survey result in the latter half of the 4th century.
