Areas around Muthapudupet were once paddy fields, fruit farms, lakes, swamps and forests. Now the field areas have shrunk and residential plots have sprung up. Highest Natural point is 60 m above Mean Sea level. The soil is sandy and instantial laterite, mostly Recent Alluvium. Geological formations are concealed by Recent alluvium, with little or no exposure of rocks, most formations being Archean and tertiary sediments. Alluvial deposits of thickness of 28 meters, can amplify ground shaking during Tremors.
Muthapudupet is a predominantly Tamil speaking area with sizable Telugu speakers. Most people here are Multilingual, Speaking Tamil, Mothertongue and Hindi/English. Transport
Muthapudupet is served by Pattabiram Military Siding 'E' Depot Railway station. This station has one platform and accommodates a 9-car rake and is the terminus of EMU 'Siding' or 'S' Train. Regular Train service start at 0320 hrs in the morning towards Moore Market Complex(Chennai Central suburban) and Last train to the same is at 2120 hrs. There are trains to Chennai Beach railway station at 0820 hrs, 1720 hrs, 2030hrs. Trains from MMC to siding begins at 0415 hrs and ends at 2230 hrs except 8th (no train), 9th and 10th hour (from Chennai Beach) So there are trains from and to the city for every one hour. Trains are often delayed due to the mainline crossing at Hindu College and the signal at Basin Bridge.
MTC buses of Route No. M61C is runs between Avadi and Muthapudupet every 15-20mins. There is 65B bus to Poonamallee at Morning 08:30 . There is one Express bus service to saidapet at 07:30 hrs and 17:40 hrs.

There is one Multi Specialty Clinic (Srimi Clinic) two general clinics, 6 medical shops and a lab in Muthapudupet. There is a Station Sick Quarters at the Air Force Station, which caters only Air Force Personnel. Nearby hospitals are Grace Hospital, Pattabiram (3.5 km) Avadi Govt General Hospital (8 km), Sir Ivan Stedeford Hospital (12 km towards Ambattur). There is a military hospital 3.5 km towards Avadi for defence personnel.
T8 Muthapudupet Police Station falls under the Ambattur range and was situated back of Ayyappan Temple, Muthapudupet. Now they have shifted to Palavedu near ORR highway road.
Main roads are maintained by Avadi Municipality, Air Force, CRPF and HVF. Six lane Outer Ring Road (ORR) Connecting Minjur with Vandaloor, bypassing Chennai and suburbs passes tangentially at Muthapudupet.
Electricity is provided by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board via 11 kV feeders from Pattabiram SS (urban) and Thirunindravur SS (rural). High voltage distribution is to be erected.
