Mani is an American web series, starring Lawrence Wayne Curry, and Hayley LeBlanc.[1] The series is produced by Brat. It premiered on August 30, 2017. The show ended on April 8, 2020.

Synopsis

Mani Season 1 (2017)

The comedy series follows a girl named Sky (Piper Rockelle), and her best friend, Harmony (Hayley LeBlanc) who is secretly dating Sky's crush, Dylan (Julian Clark), Sky's male nanny, aka "Mani" (Lawrence Wayne Curry), and the shenanigans they finds themselves in together. The first season follows Mani becoming Sky's official nanny and getting a side job as a substitute teacher for Sky and Harmony's class after he killed the real teacher by mistake. All the students have a valentine but Sky. She is looking for one.

Mani Season 2 (2018)

The second season began with Mani helping out the school play of Cinderella. Sky and Harmony's friendship being put to the test when Harmony's new friend, Paige (Mia Talerico), begins to take Sky's place during a class field trip.

Mani Season 3 (2018)

The third season follows Mani forming a rap collective group in Sky and Harmony's class to compete in a Japanese rapping competition, in order to win a cash prize, but Harmony is a celebrity and she can't compete in the competition so she gets in disguise as Hank.

Mani Season 4 (2019)

It is the last day of elementary school for the group, Sky has moved to Australia after her father finds his lost father since childhood, Mani, Harmony, and the rest of their friends are at a summer camp which was not what they expected.

Mani Season 5 (2020)

The fifth season of the show follows Harmony at Millwood after a student with a crush on her manipulates the IT system to get her moved there. She has conflict with a member of the step team there initially, but this is resolved by the end of the season. The season ends on a cliffhanger, where Harmony is forced to choose between her old friends or her new ones from Millwood.

  • Lawrence Wayne Curry as Mani Lee (all seasons). He is an adult who was the childminder for Sky and Harmony. He continues to appear in every other season and eventually becomes True's childminder.
  • Txunamy Ortiz as Brittany (all seasons). She is Harmony's BFF, and a diva.
  • Mia Talerico as Paige (seasons 2, 3 and 5)
  • Merrick Hanna as “Goth Boy” Edward (seasons 4 and 5), a boy who miss his girlfriend and is sad about this.
  • Payton Ali as True (season 5), the bossy captain of the Millwood Middle School step team.
  • Jaylah Johnson as Bali (saeason 5 only)
  • Kinkade Elliott Spencer as Melvin (season 5 only), a boy who is creepily obsessed with Harmony and hacks the computer system to make her go to Millwood rather than Attaway.

Production

The series premiered its 2nd season in January 2018.[5] On August 9, 2018, Variety revealed that the show would be returning for a third season, set to premiere in the fall.[6] Season 3 premiered on October 17, 2018.[3] On May 7, 2019, Deadline reported that Brat had renewed the show for a 4th season, set for a summer premiere.[7] The following month, Brat announced via their official Twitter account that season 4 would premiere on June 19, 2019.[4] The first trailer for the 4th season was released on June 12, 2019.[8] According to Actor Access that Mani is renewed for a 5th season. Due to Hayley LeBlanc, Txunamy Ortiz, Coco Quinn, and Corrine Joy becoming the stars of Brat series Chicken Girls, the show had been cancelled after 5 seasons.

Reception

Mani, while not being Brat's most popular show (it is definently one of Brat's most popular shows), has the most viewed episode of any Brat show (season 1 episode 9 [“I’m The Captian Now”], which has more than 17 million views).
