Etymology

Manaba is a Zulu word for 'ease and relaxation' which is not surprising as Manaba is a seaside resort town. [3]

Location

Manaba Beach is located north of Margate and is actually a suburb of Margate as it falls under it's jurisdiction. It also located south of Uvongo on the R620 (Marine Drive).

Commerce

Manaba Beach is a commercial district of Margate as there are many shops and businesses stringed along the main road, Marine Drive. Notable businesses include Spar, Luckys, Builders Express and Auto Zone. Tourism is also a major role player in Manaba with many holiday apartments along its coastline. [4][5][6]

Albany, a South African company producing bread has it's Margate bakery in Manaba Beach.[7]

Beaches

Manaba Beach also has a beach of the same name in the northern part of the suburb whilst it has a beach in the southern part of the suburb named Lucien Beach. Lucien Beach, a Blue Flag Beach is the main swimming beach in Manaba Beach. It is well maintained with lifeguards on duty and there are stairs down to the beach.

Nearby beaches include Margate Main Beach which is of walking distance and Uvongo Beach. [8]

Lily Crona Boulevard is the seaside road that stretches between Uvongo beach and Lucien Beach. This 2.5 km scenic road is popular with locals and holiday makers alike for walking, jogging and cycling.[9]

It is also located on the R620 (Marine Drive) which links to Uvongo, Shelly Beach and Port Shepstone in the north and Margate, Ramsgate and Southbroom in the south. Manaba Beach is also where the R620 meets with Seaslopes Avenue which connects to the R61 highway and the Margate Country Club.

gollark: I don't; I'm just not going out ever.
gollark: I think it has happened at least in the country fairly often, I don't know about *here*.
gollark: In places which definitely haven't done that well people still do it, though.
gollark: No, I mean people will just go to parties and stuff in the middle of a pandemic.
gollark: Even in situations when it *isn't* that they'll lose all their money, I mean.
