Little Hug

Little Hug Fruit Barrels is a brand of juice drink manufactured by American Beverage Corporation introduced in 1974.[1] The drink is bottled in plastic 8-ounce shaped bottles with foil caps. It is also available in 16-ounce bottles with sports caps as Big Hug. In recent years, the company created a formula that uses less sugar that is currently being sold[2][3]. The more recent packaging comes with the addition of straws.

In 2015, Royal Wessanen sold American Beverage Corporation to Harvest Hill Beverage, owner of Juicy Juice.[4]

Product History

In early May 2013 the company had brought three new flavors of little hugs. Wild Berry, Lemon Berry, and Cherry Berry. Along with these new flavors they have also started creating the Tropical flavors which include Orange, Fruit Punch, Lemonade, Tropical Punch.[6]

Little Hug Rights

In March 2015 The American Beverage corporation sold the rights of the little hug brand to Harvest Hill Beverage corporation for 55 Million dollars. Since the Purchase of the Little Hug and Big Hug rights they have lowered the two grams of sugar (Introduced by the American Beverage Company) down to only one gram of sugar per Little hug.[7]

The Barrels

Through the 70s and 80s Little Hugs were a symbolic drink.[8]

Endorsements

Little Hug has an endorsement with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. who is a NASCAR racer. He drives a Ford Fusion in the races.
