Nearly a week after her coronation, Rapunzel and Cassandra seek out an alchemist in their first attempt at solving the mystery as to how and why Rapunzel's 70-foot golden hair grew back. Eugene follows them, but things don't go quite as planned; they find Varian, a 14-year-old alchemist who agrees to help uncover the mystery of Rapunzel's hair. However, Varian had built some underground machines which run out of control and destroy the village. Luckily, no one is hurt and the test shows some important facts about Rapunzel's hair; it's completely indestructible and doesn't have any healing powers any more, but now can completely cover somebody and protect them. As they leave, Rapunzel begins telling Eugene about the events of the night when her hair grew back (which Eugene promises to keep secret) and the black rocks slowly start to grow back and multiply.

Enraged that Rapunzel has been (unknowingly) overshadowing her for the entirety of her life, and that she will always be unfairly overlooked, Cassandra snatches the Moonstone Opal, absorbs it, and declared Rapunzel's destiny as her own. She manages to escape from the group and cuts all ties with them, with Rapunzel unable to wrap her head around the entire situation. The group returns to Corona and find that it has been taken over by Varian, who has aligned himself with Andrew and the Separatists of Saporia to erase the King and Queen's memories and enslave Corona's citizens. When Varian realizes that the Separatists plan on using one of his potions' destructive properties to destroy Corona, he and Rapunzel work together to stop it. They succeed, and Rapunzel uses the decaying incantation to release Quirin from his amber prison, mending her friendship with Varian. Rapunzel becomes Corona's interim ruler until her parents' memories can be restored, and finally begins to open up about Cassandra to Eugene.

Rapunzel helps to rebuild Old Corona, (after its near destruction from the Black Rocks) which will become the permanent home of Red and Angry, who have returned to Corona to settle down. However, she begins to notice strange footprints around the area, as well as the livestock becoming more unruly and fearful. The group comes across a monster hunter named Creighton, who explains to the group that the area is being stalked by a werewolf, who possessed one of Corona's citizens. Aiming to save this person rather than kill them, Rapunzel sets out to find who it is. She initially believes it is Monty, but after she is cornered by the werewolf, she realises that it is Red after spotting her necklace. Red explains that the spirit of the werewolf possessed her because she believed it could help her explain to Angry that she did not want to settle down. When they try to rid her of the spirit, Red is suddenly attacked by Creighton and she attacks back, but Angry manages to talk her down and she returns to normal. Elsewhere, Cassandra continues to struggle with her new connection to the ancient and almighty Moonstone and its physical defences. The Enchanted Girl says she will assist her in mastering its negative powers, and that they can only be unleashed and strengthened by deep rage and hatred. She encourages Cassandra to tap into her darkest feelings in order for her to truly wield its destructively deathly powers to their highest potential. Intensely furious at Rapunzel for "ruining her whole life", Cassandra does as she is instructed and the Opal and Black Rocks begin to respond to her at will, and vows to kill her former friend.
  • Angry and Red's real names are revealed to be "Kiera" and "Catalina".

Rapunzel rallies all of Corona together to take back the kingdom. Varian learns that Demanitus made a machine that trapped Zhan Tiri in another world and Rapunzel, Eugene, Pascal, Varian, Lance, Angry and Red venture to Demanitus' tomb to get the plans. They realize that they have to build the machine close to Zhan Tiri and the Coronans proceed to storm the castle. Rapunzel faces off with Cassandra, but with the impending eclipse, Rapunzel's powers begin to wane. The Coronans successfully build the machine, but Hamuel accidentally activates it, sucking everyone in, except Eugene and Edmund. The Brotherhood, still affected by the Mind Trap, attack the two and they race to Cassandra's tower to destroy it. However, Edmund is revealed to also be affected and Maximus rescues Eugene. Eugene gets through to Edmund who willingly destroys the Mind Trap. They return and rescue the Coronans.

With the eclipse in full effect, Zhan Tiri steals both the Sundrop and the Moonstone, rendering both Rapunzel and Cassandra powerless and transforming herself into a giant demon while destroying the machine. While the Coronans alongside Adira, Hector and King Edmund battle against Zhan Tiri, Rapunzel and Cassandra make up. Inspired by the phrase in Rapunzel's book "Plus Est En Vous", Cassandra takes the broken piece of the moonstone from their earlier fight and gives it to Rapunzel; giving her hair just enough Sundrop energy. They battle Zhan Tiri and force her to merge the Sundrop and Moonstone gems together at the cost of Rapunzel cutting her brown hair short again. Zhan Tiri is finally destroyed as the black rocks disappear while the Sundrop and Moonstone become one. Rapunzel uses it to heal everyone before sending the Ultimate Power back up into the cosmos where it belongs.

Cassandra decides to leave Corona to look for her real destiny and bids farewell to Rapunzel who accepts her title of queen. Eugene becomes the head of the royal guards with Maximus at his side. Varian becomes the royal engineer and creates a heated water system with the help of his dad. King Edmund, Adira and Hector return to the Dark Kingdom to rebuild it and Lance decides to adopt Angry and Red as everyone enjoys their happily ever after. Later in the evening, Eugene once again proposes to Rapunzel, who finally accepts, as the words "The End" are displayed onscreen.
