Road

There are eight official border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan.[1]

Other minor crossings

There are also numerous of unofficial and illegal crossings used by locals, smugglers and terrorists however the Pakistani government is trying to stop cross-border infiltration by construction of the Afghanistan–Pakistan barrier.

Rail

There are currently no operational railway crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Khyber Pass Railway wich connects Pakistan with Afghanistan was suspended due to security problems and the 2006 monsoon season rains in the Khyber Pass washed away significant sections of the railway. The track as of today is closed for all type's of railway traffic.

On june 2019 Pakistan minister for railway Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that Pakistan Railways was planning to lay railway track from Peshawar to Jalalabad. Durning talking to media persons he also said pakistan railways was also planning to lay railway track from Chaman to Qandahar which would connect Pakistan and Afghanistan and boost business activities.[5]
